Welcome to the Possum Room
Group size – Maximum of 10 children. Ratio – 1 Educator per 4 children for children under 2 years. 1 Educator per 5 children for children 2 to 3 years.
The Possum Child Minding Room’s name comes from the Aboriginal name “Bara Byu” which means ‘Possum’ and is derived from the Darumbal language
At Elfin House Community Child Care Centre we as Professionals believe early childhood is a unique, exciting and valuable stage in life and that with positive partnerships and teamwork, together, our child minding can genuinely contribute to the best start in life for each child with play based learning. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and healthy child minding environment for the children in our care.
We would like to welcome you and your child to the Possum Room. Children will experience both indoor and outdoor play. They will be encouraged to participate in a range of physical, creative and sensory experiences.
What is the main focus of the Possum Room?
To be kind to our friends. To learn our ABCs, counting, and colours, and to learn about the environment that we live in.

All Elfin House Community Child Care Centre educators hold a valid Blue Card, Senior First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate and Asthma & Anaphylaxis Certificate

How will we communicate with you about your child and their day?
Online you will find daily information sections. One of these sections has a record of the food your child has eaten and the time of their sleep, has nappy change and toilet time details. You will also find our Daily News which has a story about what has happened during the day and some photos.
What should children bring to day care each day?
Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, spare clothes, spare underwear, water bottles, sheets set.
For health and hygiene reasons we advise that you do not use insulated lunch-boxes.
